The Team Aqua Hideout (Japanese: アクアアジト Team Aqua Hideout), called Aqua Hideout in the Generation III games, is the main base of Team Aqua in Pokémon Sapphire, Emerald, and Alpha Sapphire.

In Pokémon Ruby and Omega Ruby, it is replaced by the Team Magma Hideout instead. The base is essentially the same, though there is less water, all Aqua members are replaced by Magma members, and Matt is replaced by TabithaR or CourtneyOR.

Until Team Aqua steals the submarine at Slateport City, two Grunts will block access to the rest of the hideout from the entrance.

Geography

The hideout is located in the northeast of Lilycove City. Inside, they are many warp tiles. There is also some water from which the submarine departs from.

Role

On the player's first visit, there are also a number of Team Aqua Grunts that will try and slow down the player. At the back of the hideout, the player battles Matt, who will tell the player that Archie, the leader of Team Aqua, has left with the submarine to the watery depths near Sootopolis City. After the submarine departs, the Wailmer that the Team Aqua Grunt was trying to train that were blocking access to Route 124 are gone.

In Sapphire, the entrance to the hideout is sealed after defeating Tate and Liza, meaning the player can no longer collect any items or battle any Trainers inside.

Delta Episode

During the Delta Episode, after Zinnia has destroyed the dimensional shifter controller at the Mossdeep Space Center, she storms the hideout, defeating Team Aqua Grunts on her way to Archie to steal his Key Stone. In Archie's room, when the player arrives Zinnia has just defeated Archie, who then takes Archie's Key Stone. After she announces her plans to head to the Sky Pillar to awaken Rayquaza and leaves, Archie has Shelly give the player his Sharpedonite.

After receiving the Sharpedonite from Shelly, the player receives an Entry Call on their PokéNav Plus from Steven, who requests that the player meet him at the Mossdeep Space Center.

Ruby & Sapphire arc

The Aqua Hideout first appeared in Always Keep Whiscash on You for Emergencies, where Maxie and Tabitha were allowed inside to join their resources with Team Aqua for the time being so that they could reach the Seafloor Cavern safely. Many Grunts from both teams were also taken as backup.

In The Beginning of the End with Kyogre & Groudon XIV, Wattson, Winona, and Flannery searched through the abandoned Hideout and freed Professor Cozmo, whom Team Aqua had captured earlier.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc

The Hideout reappeared in Gorebyss Changes Color and Beedrill Prepares, when Blaise and Amber met each other there, discussing about the resurfacing of the Red and Blue Orbs, as well as the suspected return of their respective leaders.

Trivia

There is a picture of a boy with a shaved head, a girl with black hair, and a Pokémon with three notes attached to its head. "The 7th day of the –th month, –002. With Arc–e and –rachi." The letters at the edge of the picture are faded and hard to read…
Based on the description, the picture likely features young Archie and Shelly with Jirachi. The date described can possibly be the 7th of July, the date of Tanabata, the Japanese star festival which Jirachi is commonly associated with, while the year is likely 2002, the year when Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire were first released. In the Spanish version of the game, the date is slightly altered, showing the year number –003 instead of –002. This is a possible reference to Ruby and Sapphire being released outside of Japan in 2003.
